Mission Statement in Progress « Thread Started on Feb 7, 2003, 9:29am »
In a different thread, I was mulling posting something along the lines of a mission statement. What the place is and should or could be. I'm nowhere near having that written.
However, comparing and contrasting might suffice for now. For comparisons to the other boards, I wrote in another thread:
Overall, this is another TrekBBS MISC type set of forums... however... I'm setting it as a public pub, restaurant and inn open to all "loyal citizens of the realms." No pub or restaurant posts rules other than No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service, so why must I? I'll certainly boot patrons who cause problems, it is a business after all!
But in a nutshell... It's TrekBBS, but it's not about Trek; it's EFCL, but you don't need to be a veteran 1K poster; it's TerranBBS, but you don't have to pretend to be about all sf; it's LoNAF, but you don't have to "join a fleet"; it's Random Outlet, but no, we have a theme -- pubs and inns from the Middle Ages to now; it's Slipstream -- no wait, this place is open; it's TK, but we aren't out to troll and flame....; I am Tiger Woods. I am Emmitt Smith...

Hey Sturmde, if it helps you could check out the old EZBoard which is still up... there's something in one of the old archives that says what the policy used to be. *shrug* Up to you, but feel free to use any of it you wish. I believe also that someone has copies of all the old threads... I could contact them and get the threads posted if you wish?

^ I couldn't figure that out either at first about the change you reference. Then a friend told me about the Set Censored Word features. We'll need to talk privately about who had access through the past months to the administrator level functions who would have worked to pull off such a set-up stunt.
As to the older files... I think the most recent ezboard link makes for a good archive. I've found it fascinating and look forward to reading through it.
